Insight disappointed us this time. We have been on their tours several times including with Luxury Gold. The Tour director was changed at the last minute. She was just coming from the same tour. It seemed like it was burdensome for her. I can go on from the day we arrived at the airport till the end. We were just waiting for this tour to be done. This might give you some idea how much inconvenience was caused.
I probably won’t be traveling again, but this was a great last trip. The trip leader was excellent, knowledgeable, well-prepared, on top of the many possibilities that could happen, informative, clear and upbeat. The driver was also very skilled and careful.
The Gideon Putnam was not up to our expectations. If we were on a personal trip, we would not have stayed at this hotel. The caulk in shower/bath tub was moldy (obviously), the back of the shampoo, conditioner, soap holder was moldy, the floor behind the sink and toilet was extremely dirty, there was no stopper in the sink and the chrome on the top of the drain had eroded. The Trapp Family Lodge - air conditioner for the hotel had been turned off the year. We could not open the windows because firepits with real wood were lit and the smoke smell was coming into the room. A box fan was provided however only moved hot air around. All other hotels met expectations.
